With custom metrics and attributes, you can analyze the inputs in two different fields and use them to update a third field as a metric. Example: Identify the gap between the task due date and the actual completion date to identify the delay in completing the task. This helps measure the task completion rate and team productivity. 

What are custom metrics?

A metric is a number property that you can measure or operate on, for example, deal value, close date, etc. Create custom metrics using single arithmetic operations or even complex functions to derive results. Example: Calculate win rate using the Count of deals marked won / total number of deals

How to create custom metrics?

1. To set up a custom metric, head over to the Settings section from the Analytics page.

2. Click on Custom Metrics and click on Create Metric, and here you can give the metric a name and description. 

3. Choose the module that the metric will be applicable.

4. Create the formula based on your requirement. For example, compute the average time spent on sales activities. 

5. Use the Check Syntax option to ensure the formula is error-free and valid.

What are custom attributes?

An attribute is a number or a text or boolean property that you can use to filter or to group metrics; for example,  lead source or contact name. Customize the way you want to group and view your data with the help of custom attributes. Group them by basic arithmetic operations or other functions across categories

How to create custom attributes?

1. To set up a custom attribute, head over to the Settings section from the Analytics page. Click on Custom Attributes. 

2. Click on Create Attribute, and here you can give the attribute a name and description. 

3. Choose the module that the attribute will be applicable.

4. Create the formula based on your requirement. For example, calculate the date difference in minutes between the completed date and the due date in the tasks module.

5. Use the Check Syntax option to ensure the formula is error-free and valid. 

Note: Custom field values are not supported for custom metrics and custom attributes.
