What is Facebook & Instagram Custom Audience?

Custom Audience is an ad targeting option that lets you find your existing audiences among people across Facebook & Instagram. With Freshmarketer, users can automate creating an audience list and target them with relevant ads on Facebook & Instagram.


How to integrate your Facebook Ad account with the web application?

  • Go to Admin Settings > Integrate Social Media with CRM
  • On the Integrate Social Media with CRM page, you can connect your Facebook Ad account with the CRM using the Connect Facebook Ad account option.

  • The CRM will require your permission to receive your name and profile picture. The integration will only work as expected if permission is granted. 

  • Once you connect your Facebook account, the following screen displays all Facebook Ad accounts that are associated with the Facebook account. Select the ad accounts required from the list. 
  • The Ad accounts are successfully added to the CRM.

How to create an Audience List?

  • Go to contacts and click on Facebook Audience
  • Once you click the Create Audience option, create a name for your audience list and select the Ad account. 
  • Users can add contacts from Segments or Lists. Choose the option from which you want to add contacts and select the Segment or the List from which you want to add contacts to the Audience list.

  • Click on “Create” to create the Audience list. Once you press create, the CRM will start the sync with Facebook immediately based on the contact size, but Facebook takes 24-48 hours to update the audience list.

Note:

  • Only contacts in the Segment/List will be added to the Audiences. 
  • Contacts without Email IDs will not be added to the Audiences.
  • Only 10,000 contacts from the List/Segment selected will be added to the Audiences. 

How to delete an Audience List?

  • Go to contacts and click on Facebook Audiences.
  • Click the “delete” button on the Audience list that you want to delete.
  • The CRM will ask you to confirm your action.
  • Once you press confirm, the audience list will be deleted from the CRM and from Facebook. This action will not delete the contacts from the CRM.

How to view the details of an Audience List?

  • Go to contacts and click on Facebook Audiences.
  • Click on the Audience list for which you want to view the details.
  • You can view the following details for the Audience list you have chosen.
    • Segment/List Name
    • Type (Segments/Lists)
    • Contacts Synced
    • Action (Contacts Added/Removed)
    • Sync Status 
    • Last Updated

How to add contacts from Segments and Lists to the Audience List?

  • Click the “Manage Contact” button on the Audience list to which you want to add a contact and click the “Add Contacts” button. 

  • Choose if you want to add contacts from “Segments” or “Lists”
  • Click “Add” once you choose the Segment or a List.
  • The contacts will be added to the Audience list in 24-48 hours.

How to remove contacts from Segments and Lists to the Audience List?

  • Go to contacts and accounts and click on Facebook Audiences.
  • Click the “Manage Contact” button on the Audience list from which you want to remove a contact and click the “Remove Contacts” button.

  • Choose if you want to remove contacts from “Segments or “Lists”
  • Click “Remove” once you choose the Segment or a List.
  • The contacts will be removed from the Audience list in 24-48 hours

How to disconnect your Ad account?

  • Go to Admin Settings > Integrate Social Media with CRM
  • On the integrate social media with CRM page, click on the Ad accounts tab to see all the accounts added to the CRM. 

  • Click on the remove tab to disconnect your Ad account.

  • Once you press remove on the confirmation screen, your Ad account will be disconnected. 


Adding and Removing Facebook & Instagram Custom Audience in Marketing Journeys?

  • Go to Marketing Automation > Customer Journeys
  • Click on Create from Scratch & fill in the name of your Journey

  • Choose the trigger (For example, you might want to retarget customers added to a specific segment. Choose the segment that you want to retarget and create an audience list for that segment.)
  • Once you choose the segment, choose the action as "Add to Audience"
  • Once you execute this condition, the contacts in the segment defined will be added to your custom audience list

  • You can also remove the audience from your segments if you don't wish to retarget them 
  • Choose the trigger as "Added to Segments" & choose the action as "Remove from Audience"
  • Once you execute this condition, the contacts in the defined segment will be removed from your custom audience list
