You can send and receive file attachments and URLs in Freshchat. PDFs, images, videos, and text files are supported by default.
You can attach files to conversations from your computer or the Files repository in Freshchat. The Conversation resources feature is similar to your Google Drive, Dropbox, or other cloud storage devices. It lives within Freshchat, where you can upload and store files and share them with your team.

Attach files to conversation
Click the attach icon at the bottom of the reply text box. When you upload an attachment from your computer that is not available in your Files folder, Freshchat will display a prompt asking if you want to save it to your Files repository.
If you select Files, you will see a list of files in your repository. From here you can search, select, and send files to your users.
Upload attachments to Conversation Resources
- Go to Admin Settings > Configuration and Workflows > Productivity > Conversation Resources.
- Click on Upload file to browse and upload a file under the Files tab
- In the Upload file pop-up, you can decide whether AI agents can learn from this file. You can also choose to make this file available in your inbox and in other agents' inboxes.
- The file permissions are displayed in the Shared with column of the files list and indicated by various icons, as shown below.
- To change the access permissions for any file, click on Manage Permissions
- Add URLs to be used by you and other agents under the URLs tab
- You can search for your uploaded files using the search bar on the top
- Use the Filter option next to the search bar to organize files by their access permissions.
File types not supported
Some file types, such as executable files (e.g: .exe), are not supported in Freshchat as they pose a security risk for malware and malicious content. The following file types are not supported in Freshchat:

- .com
- .hta
- .html
- .htm
- .js
- .jar
- .vbs
- .vb
- .sfx
- .bat
- .ps1
- .war
- .sh
- .bash
- .command
Files upload limit for different Freshchat plans
The number of files you can upload to your Files repository is limited based on your plan.
- My Files file limit - As an agent, you can store a certain number of files in your Files repository under the 'My Files' section, as mentioned under each plan.
- Shared with Team file limit - As an admin, you can store and share files with your team as per the below-specified limits.
