Note:You can rename modules in two languages - English and Simplified Chinese.

How is this feature useful?

This feature is useful in a context where the terminology used in the web application is not particularly suited for the process or the industry the user belongs to. In such a scenario, a user with edit permissions of a module can rename them in the web application—Contacts, Accounts, Deals and custom modules —based on their business. This can be done by the Admin and it’ll reflect for all the users.

Let us consider a couple of examples,

Example 1: You are in the education and learning space and your “Contact” is likely to be an “applicant” or a “student”. An “Account” will be the course that you offer.

Example 2: Your company is into eCommerce where a Website visitor is your “Contact”. And the shopping cart is likely to be a “Deal” in your use case.

Now, in both cases, you can rename the modules in the web application to reflect your business. Here’s how:

How can I rename the modules?

  1. Go to Admin settings > Leads, Contacts & Accounts > Contacts/Accounts/Custom Modules

  2. For Deals, navigate to Admin Settings > Deals & Pipelines > Deals

  1.  Click the Rename Module button.

  2. In the rename module overlay that appears, you can enter the singular and plural names of your module. You can also click the Add language for renaming module button to rename the module in simplified chinese.

  1. Click Save.

Note:
1. The number of characters in the name of a module cannot exceed 25.
2. While the name of the modules will change across the product UI, the properties of the modules will remain the same. Renamed Contact/Account/Deal/Custom Module fields will retain their original functionality.

What are the UI changes that will take effect once the modules are renamed?

When you rename a module, the module still works the same—only its name changes. The new name will reflect across the web application: left navigation bar, views, imports, field names, placeholders, etc. The Admin Settings page will retain the default name and the new name will be enclosed in parentheses.

The Admin Settings page however, will continue to show the original names so that the Admin can identify the modules correctly.
