You can now integrate LINE Messenger with your Freshchat account and engage with your customers. You can read, manage, and respond to customer messages you receive on your LINE account directly from your Freshchat Inbox.

Prerequisites: Create a LINE channel ID to get channel ID and channel Secret

  1. Go to the LINE Developers portal and log in with your business account.
  2. Create a LINE channel following these steps from LINE developer documentation.
  3. Once you create a LINE channel, you can find the Channel ID and Channel secret under the ‘Basic Settings' page of the LINE channel.
  4. Create a Topic for your LINE Channel and assign it to a Group.
    For example, if you use this channel for your North American region’s Support team, you can name the Topic North America Support and assign it to the North American support group.

For a seamless integration with your LINE account, ensure to configure the following settings in your LINE account.


Configure Auto-reply messages

  • Click ‘Edit’ next to the Auto-reply messages option.
  • Configure the following under Response Settings,
    • Response mode: Bot
    • Greeting Message: Disabled, 
    • Auto Response: Disabled
    • Webhooks: Enabled

    


Connecting your LINE account with Freshchat 

  1. Go to Admin > Channels > Line Messenger > Add Account.
  2. Enter your LINE Channel ID and secret key. You can find this in your LINE account.
  3. Click Save.


Verify your Webhook URL

  1. To verify the Webhook URL, you will need your LINE channel URL. Click on the edit icon next to the LINE account.
  2. Copy the LINE Channel URL.
  3. Go to the LINE developer portal and click on the LINE channel you want to integrate with Freshchat. 
  4. Go to Messaging API > Webhook settings > Edit.
  5. Paste the URL in the LINE Webhook settings and click Update.
  6. Click verify and enable the ‘Use webhook’ option.


Note: If the webhook URL verification is not successful the first time, try verifying it a few times until the success message appears.

  • Messages sent through the messaging API will be counted for the monthly limit. The number of free messages you can send depends on the subscription plan of your LINE Official Account. Please ensure you have a sufficient limit to avoid any interruption in service. You can use upto five LINE channel IDs with your Freshchat account.
  • The supported file formats are Text, Location, Image, Video, and Audio
