Your web application maintains a log of all data imports and also allows users to track the progress of all ongoing imports. Access the same by clicking the dropdown associated with the  button and click Import history. This opens the Import history page. Similarly, you can find the dropdown option in the list view of contacts, accounts, and deals.

Additionally, if your role has permission to ‘Access Admin Settings’, you may go to
Admin Settings & under Data & Import, select Import History to access this page.

Note:
1) You can view the import progress only if you have permission to perform CSV Import.

Understanding the Import history page:

The import history page maintains a record of all recent imports and displays ongoing imports if any.

Import Progress: The import progress bar displays all ongoing imports and bears relevant information such as Records Created, Records Updated, Records Skipped, and Records Errored.

Note:
1) At any given time, your web application allows only one import per module. Initiating any other import will present a notification asking you to wait until the ongoing import is completed.
2) If multiple records with the same identifier are imported, the import history would reflect one record as being updated. For example, if 5 contacts are uploaded with the same email address, and the option is set as 'Create new and update existing contacts', import history would show only one contact being updated. Click 'View Records' to view all 5 contacts that are updated.

Past Imports

The PAST IMPORTS section consists of all completed imports. Your web application maintains a history of the last 1000 imports. Each entry in this section gives you the status of previous imports and captures the following information:

  • Import Label: Carries a label for the type of record that was imported. It follows the nomenclature “<Record type> Label <No.>”

  • Records Created: Denotes the number of records that were created as a part of this import.

  • Records Updated: Denotes the number of existing records that were updated as part of this import.

  • Records Skipped: Denotes the number of records that were identified and skipped based on matching conditions. Click on the [Download] link next to the number to download the skipped records.

  • Records Errored: Denotes the number of records whose import failed. Click on the [Download] link next to the number to download the error log.

  • Import Start Date: Denotes the date and time when the import was started.
Note: The import history will be available only from 7th May, 2019. For all imports prior to this date, no import history will be available.

  • Status: Denotes the status of the import. For imports that are completed, the status is indicated as Completed.

  • View Records: Click button to filter out all records that were imported under a particular import label.

How to regulate access to the import history section?

Only users with permission to ‘Import CSV’ under their roles will be able to view the import button and monitor the history and progress of their imports. Users for whom the permission is disabled will not be able to view the import button or the import history page.

To enable import functionality, go to Admin Settings  > Teams & Territories > Roles and select the role on which you wish to enable import functionality. Click on the Import data checkbox under Actions to enable CSV import. This will restore the import functionality and the user will also be able to view the import history.
